In December 2014, Social Voucher acquired a Wisconsin-based augmented reality company called ARrival Labs, and we began planning how this technology would be used in our game-commerce engine. At that time augmented reality (AR) was merely a buzz word, but with recent applications such as Pokemon Go creating an international craze, as well as Magic Leap gearing up for the highly anticipated launch of its secretive application, it appears that augmented reality awareness and popularity is on the rise.
Earlier this quarter Social Voucher was mentioned in an article by CB Insights, which outlined how tech giants like Facebook, Google, Twitter, and Go Pro are snapping up augmented reality and virtual reality startups. While 2015 saw a record 135 deals and $700M in funding, that number is expected to grow in 2016.
The details of the augmented reality features in our upcoming game, Stocket, remain in stealth mode, but be sure to follow all of our social channels below for updates.
